5/6/04 EXCLUSIVE - SUPERMAN ABOUT TO BE CAST!

We can exclusively reveal that screentests have begun on McG's Superman! After a tip-off and some further investigating we've discovered that six actors are testing for Superman next week, on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Test deals are being finalised as we speak.

Who are the secret six? We don't know right now (so don't ask), but the recently rumoured Jake Gyllenhaal is not one of them (this reporter could only see Jake as Superman if the movie was made in a tangent universe and directed by Richard Kelly! =) ).

The source isn't sure if the much-rumoured Henry Cavill is in the six. Since insiders have been consistently telling us Cavill is McG's first choice for the role we'd be pretty surprised if he wasn't one of the six.

Stay tuned, in a couple of weeks we could know who'll step into the tights vacated by Christopher Reeve in 1987.

6/9/04 EXCLUSIVE: ACTORS' NAMES REVEALED

Following up from our previous story S-V can exclusively reveal 3 of the six actors currently screen testing this week for Superman.

Henry Cavill

We can confirm that the longtime front runner Henry Cavill will test along with Jared Padalecki and Jason Behr. Cavill (21) was originally linked with the project when Brett Ratner was director and remained in contention after Ratner left. He has been a favourite ever since

Jason Behr

Fans of Roswell will be familiar with Jason Behr (31*) who has also appeared in the movies 'Pleasantville' and 'The Shipping News.' Behr was linked to the role back in June last year when Jonathan Frakes was linked with the director's job.

Jared Padalecki

Jared Padalecki (21) has appeared in WB's 'Gilmore Girls' and recently starred in 'New York Minute.' An interesting fact about Padalecki is that he appeared in 'Cheaper By The Dozen' playing a bully who picked on Tom Welling! A lot of fans will be sad to hear that the pair won't be facing off again, as Welling will not be part of the 6. We can also rule out any other stars linked with the role in the past as the rest of the 6 will comprise of young relatively unknown actors. We can't reveal any more names so don't ask! =)
